Terms of Service

Last updated July 22, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Our Heroes (the "Service"), available at ourheroes.app. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

2. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. Tell us right away through our contact form if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

Accounts are created using a single-use access code, purchased through Stripe or provided by us. Access codes are personal to the account that redeems them and can't be resold or transferred.

3. Purchases & access

Some access to the Service is paid — pricing and terms (including any trial or renewal periods) are shown at the time of purchase and may change. Purchases are processed by Stripe; we don't store your payment details.

If you're not happy with a purchase, write to us within 30 days and we'll refund it — no explanation needed. Refunding a purchase ends the access it paid for. Your photos stay: you can still sign in, look through them, and download all of them.

When paid access lapses, your galleries stop being visible to visitors and new uploads pause. Nothing is deleted at that point: you can still sign in, look through your photos, and download all of them, and renewing brings your galleries back exactly as they were. If an account stays lapsed for more than a year, we may permanently remove its galleries and photos. We review these by hand rather than deleting automatically — but please keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the photos, videos, and text you upload to Our Heroes ("Your Content"). By uploading it, you grant us a limited license to store, host, display, and transmit it as necessary to operate the Service — for example, showing it on your public gallery page, generating thumbnails, and including it in your gallery's RSS feed.

To display your galleries reliably and keep them quick to load, we optimize the images you upload rather than storing your original files unchanged: photos are converted to a standard web format, corrected for orientation, resized down if they're very large, and given smaller thumbnails. This is ordinary image processing and is usually visually indistinguishable, but it means the copies we store are optimized versions — not byte-for-byte identical to the files you uploaded.

You can download all of your photos at any time, packaged as a ZIP archive, from the Account section of Gallery settings. Because those downloads contain the optimized copies described above, they may not exactly match your original files. Our Heroes is a place to show your photos, not a backup service for your originals — please keep your own copies of anything irreplaceable.

You're responsible for Your Content. By uploading it, you confirm that:

5. Public galleries

Galleries are public by default — anyone with the link can view them. You can set a viewing password in Gallery settings to restrict access. You're responsible for choosing privacy settings appropriate to what you upload, and for who you share a gallery's link — or invite as a collaborator — with.

6. Collaborators

You can invite others to help add and arrange photos in your gallery. You're responsible for who you invite. Collaborators can't change gallery settings, set a viewing password, or delete the gallery — only the owner can do that.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Our Heroes to:

See our Content Guidelines for details. Anyone can report a gallery, and we may, at our discretion, remove content, hide a gallery from public view, or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

8. Storage & limits

Each account has a photo/video quota, shared across every gallery it owns, which can be increased through a one-time purchase. We reserve the right to change quota amounts or pricing going forward. We aim to keep your content available and intact, but we don't guarantee the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted.

9. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Gallery settings — this permanently removes your galleries and account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, and will try to notify you when reasonably possible.

10. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, or for loss of Your Content, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the date above when we do. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
