I moved the memorial website I made for John Walsh, who we lost in a 2003 helicopter accident, to Our Heroes (the framework that hosts this site). I was honored to work with Larry, John's dad, on the original site. The technologies it used eventually became outdated, so it was offline for a while. This is its new home, complete with the many original guestbook entries from friends, classmates, teammates, coworkers, fellow Marines, and others whose lives John touched. Those messages not only honored John but also provided comfort and support to his family. I live in Hillsborough, NC and have been in this area since I came for grad school in '93. Honored to have been recognized this summer for 20 years at Duke University. I work in Duke's Office of Information Technology (https://oit.duke.edu/), where I've had the opportunity to help develop technologies that support teaching and learning. I was part of the team that helped Duke become one of the first universities to implement enterprise lecture recording and secure video streaming, and I continue to help bring new educational media technologies to the university.
