Intro

On 22 January 2003, John Walsh and three fellow Marine Corps pilots were killed when their two Cobra helicopters collided near the U.S.–Mexico border. They were flying a night mission in support of the Border Patrol. His father, Larry, wrote: "John was loved by many people. He had many families." This gallery brings a few of them together — the people who flew with him, grew up with him, worked beside him — to share some of the ways he touched our lives. John, you are deeply missed.
